Brienz is situated near the place where the river “Aare” flows into the lake of Brienz. The
village is surrounded by breathtaking mountain chains, the Brienzer Rothorn on the right and
the Axalp on the left side of the lake.
The magical lake of Brienz is the deepest and cleanest lake in all of Switzerland.
Brienz is known for its wooden sculptures and hosts the only Swiss school of wood sculpture.
This local craft art has a long tradition in our region. The school of violin makers is also
located in our village.
